Minimising your CCTV costs in three easy steps

Here at I-HT, we understand that the cost of installing and running CCTV can seem a little daunting, especially for smaller businesses and start-ups without a lot of liquid capital. However, CCTV systems are essential if you want to protect your offices or other premises from criminals, intruders and miscreants. Luckily, you may not have to pay as much as you think. There are several ways that you can minimise the cost of installing and running CCTV cameras, which we’ll show you in today’s blog entry. Remember, CCTV is essential, but that doesn’t mean it has to be expensive.

1. Opt for cameras that can swivel

One of the simplest ways to save money is to invest in cameras that can swivel back and forth instead of cameras that only point in one direction. Swivelling allows a single camera to view a larger area, meaning that fewer cameras can cover more of your premises. If you opt for cameras that can swivel, you won’t need to invest in as many in order to achieve full coverage of the area around your office or premises.

2. Plan the positioning of your cameras with care

Some businesses waste money by placing cameras in positions where they can’t see anything or simply aren’t required. Think about where your CCTV cameras need to be placed in order to give them the best possible vantage point so they can catch prospective intruders. If you plan the positioning of your cameras carefully, you can minimise your costs.

3. Carry out maintenance regularly

One of the most significant running costs associated with CCTV systems is the cost of repairing them if they break. Luckily, you can avoid this cost almost entirely by having your CCTV system maintained and serviced regularly. It’s a lot cheaper in the long-run. Here at I-HT, we also offer CCTV maintenance if you need it.

CCTV is vital for protecting your business, so we recommend installing it as soon as possible. If you follow the advice we have given in today’s blog, you won’t need to worry about the cost. Feel free to contact us for more information.
